Special Features

Come visit us May 20th and experience the amazing and exciting! Once again Shootinig Star Specialty Acts will be taking all the tack off their horses, and demonstrating how having the right kind of relationship with your horse is worth all the patience it requires. Never heard of Liberty Training? Don’t worry, as they not only will show you the results of their training, but a few specific ways they have worked with their horses to become true partners with them. Also showing their special talents will be some of their amazing trick rider students to show you another way to play with horses. 

Meet the staff, volunteers and some of the student riders with some of the horses at KCHC including Daisy the racehorse, Brandi the Friesian filly, along with everyone’s favorite horse, “Lucky” who teaches trust, and the newest member of the gang - “Rhapsody”. Throughout the day, Student riders will be receiving awards for their hard work. Curious how to sign up for riding lessons? Step into our Iddy Biddy Tack Shop and dig through stacks of brand new and used tack, equipment and riding attire. Check out the jewelry cases filled with sparkly things for horses as well as horse lovers. Peruse the artistry of local artists as they show off their creativity. Buying locally instead of going online is how you can help support us and our mission to eliminate barriers to enjoying the world of horses, including our goal to build a wheelchair ramp so everyone can interact with them face to face.

Sawdust Scramble is an exciting game for kids from 2 yrs on up. We’ve buried prizes and money in lovely new sawdust, and it’s up to the kids to find them and take them home. Bring your own gloves if you wish to use them.

Hippology is the study of all things Horse, and we’re known for our experience teaching students who we’ve taken on to compete nationally. We’d like to introduce you to hippology contests by giving you the chance to answer some of the questions and demonstrate the skills with which competitors have been faced through the years. Do you have the knowledge to answer past questions taken from the University of Missouri’s senior Horse Production final exams? Wouldn’t it be fun to find out?!

Giveaways will take place all day, and watch out - You’ll need to be present to win

This year’s BBQ includes smoked shredded pork sandwiches and dogs with all the fixings. Come and stay the day and leave both happy and satisfied!
