About Us
Kirksville Community Horse Center (KCHC) is a fully open, community-driven facility offering horse owners, riders, and enthusiasts meaningful ways to connect with horses, learn horsemanship, and build lasting relationships. Since opening, KCHC has continued to grow — expanding programs, facilities, and experiences that serve our community in thoughtful and inclusive ways.
Our Facilities & Experiences
Indoor Riding Facility
Our comfortable indoor arena allows riders to school alone or in groups year-round. The space includes temperature-controlled indoor viewing from the clubhouse for family and friends, along with online streaming options so loved ones can watch sessions remotely. Arena use is available by the hour or afternoon.
Group Activities & Clubs
KCHC hosts regular group activities, including the KCHC Racing Club, where a limited number of members enjoy year-round practice, friendly competition, and gaming-based skill building.
Community Gatherings
During warm weather months, KCHC sponsors monthly community barbecues, open to anyone who enjoys horses and good company.
Education & Learning
KCHC Learning Center
Our Learning Center welcomes 4-H members and anyone interested in horses for hands-on demonstrations and educational experiences. Topics range from hoof and dental care to interactive learning opportunities — including seeing horse hair under a microscope. Educational events are posted on our community calendar.
Clubhouse & Tack Shop
The KCHC Clubhouse Tack Shop offers unique and hard-to-find items, including:
Personalized supplies for shows
Fun and limited-edition apparel
Sterling silver jewelry designed by local, award-winning artists
Riding lesson vouchers and gift packages, beautifully printed on cherry wood — a one-of-a-kind gift experience
Many items are limited in quantity, and new inventory arrives regularly, so visitors are encouraged to check back often.
Our clubhouse also features a large, heated restroom with a shower for rider convenience.
Art & Creative Spaces
Art studio items are available for purchase, and creative projects are often in progress for visitors to enjoy. Glass studio time may be booked, and class availability depends on space and supply limitations. Youth and 4-H after-school art programming is under consideration.
Boarding
Boarding at KCHC makes frequent arena access convenient and enjoyable. Boarding is self-care only, though we’re happy to help connect you with assistance if needed.
Boarders are considered VIPs and enjoy special offers and privileges. Stall availability is limited.
Community Calendar & Shared Care
The KCHC Community Calendar is open to horse owners interested in coordinating shared services such as:
Coggins testing
Vaccinations
Hoof care
Veterinary visits
When providers are scheduled, we often leave openings for others to join. Community members are also encouraged to share dates for horse shows, competitions, and related events.
Accessibility & Quiet Time
KCHC offers quiet-time appointments for individuals who experience sensory overload or need additional physical assistance. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment — please call to schedule an appointment. We’d love to meet you.
Scholarships & Giving Back
KCHC Riding Lesson Scholarships allow donors to provide a life-changing experience for someone they may never meet. Lessons can be donated anonymously, and KCHC will match your contribution. Inquire at the clubhouse for details.
Each month, KCHC also supports health advocacy initiatives, donating a portion of proceeds to selected awareness programs. Ask us about the current month’s cause.
Our Philosophy
In a world that moves too fast, KCHC is intentionally designed as a place to slow down, unplug, and reconnect. Lockers are available for those who wish to secure phones and valuables while focusing on horses. We are proud of the patience, kindness, and supportive leadership shown throughout our barn community — and we actively encourage and reward those values.
We proudly support veterans and individuals with physical and/or mental challenges. Special pricing and accommodations are often available — please let us know how we can best support you.
At KCHC, we believe you can compete with horses while still helping those you compete alongside. That belief shapes everything we do.
